THE FORT ERIE RACETRACK - IT IS ALL ABOUT POLITICS

A political prognostication about the Fort Erie Race Track: it will be given a one year reprieve.

And it's all about politics - not about the race track's importance to the community.

The new Liberal premier has an election coming up. She has to throw some money around in order for her party  to retain power. The Liberals are going to take a well-deserved beating in the next election. Wynne will throw a bone to the race track in order to try to save the riding.

Cue Jim Thibert, Mayor Martin and Kim Craitor to take bows for saving the track. And everyone will happily vote Liberal (no they won't) and think that the future of Fort Erie is secure (no it won't.)

It's just politics, folks.  Yeah, politics. What got us all in this mess going back several years because Fort Erie is the place where good government and leadership go to die.

By this time next year, we'll all be back around the campfire lamenting the loss of the Fort Erie Race Track.
And we'll have another new premier who doesn't give a rat's ass about Fort Erie. Why should he or she? Fort Erie has shown itself to be one of the most the disloyal and unpredictable ridings in the province. Bush league politics have ruined any chances for the province to expect any loyalty from Fort Erie.

So, enjoy the reprieve, Fort Erie. It's only because it is election season.

Note: Word is that PC Provincial Leader Tim Hudak is so disliked that he may once again throw away an easy victory.  Veteran Tories are wringing their hands over the incredible stupidity of Fort Erie's contribution to the PC brand. (Of course, many do remember how Tim got his start.)
