Tim Whitfield got off to a good start in his cross-examination on November 26, 2013. His answer to the question of how he knew Ward 1 Councillor and mayoral hopeful Stephen Passero brought an honest response from the former Ward 4 Councillor who initiated a lawsuit against the man who beat him in the 2010 municipal election, John Hill as well as three others. Whitfield is accusing the four of conflict of interest in the termination of the town solicitor, Heather Salter.
In his testimony, shown on page 11 of the transcript of the cross-examination conducted in answer to his sworn affidavit of April 10, 2013, defense lawyers discovered that Whitfield and Passero have had no contact, according to Whitfield, since the fall of 2010.
Whitfield went on to testify that he had little or no interest in council happenings since his crushing defeat to Hill, yet he came forward when approached by Mayor Doug Martin about a legal situation.
The fact that Passero submitted a sworn affidavit with regard to the lawsuit despite Whitfield's assertation that the two "don't have much of a rapport going." Guess this goes under the heading:

Shall we read on?And this is as far as I got because the pages I scanned did not upload properly. I will figure out what went wrong and redo it ASAP. The point was made that Whitfield answered a summons to Hurren's office on or about April 9, 2013. Hurren admits that he has "done work for the Fort Erie Economic Development and Tourism Corporation." Hurren was NOT Whitfield's counsel at the time. The meeting was initiated by Mayor Martin who then filled Whitfield in on the particulars of the firing of Heather Salter.
